Servicemen make progress in cycle run
A group of disabled British Servicemen are making progress on their epic cycle run, across the USA.

The Battle Back Race across America team set off over the weekend, ahead of them an epic journey of three thousand miles across twelve states with 170,000 feet of climbing.

The team of five, the latest group of injured servicemen to do the challenge, have been training for more than nine months and hope to complete the journey from California to Maryland within eight days, raising money for "Help for Heroes".

More than 300 competitors are taking part.

They recently arrived at the compulsory pit stop in Durrango (approx. 858 miles in) where all teams have to stop and serve any time penalties they have received from the first part of the race. On arrival they met the US Wounded Warrior Team who had been at there for an hour serving their time penalty.

On the road they have had to cope with 50mph side winds, dust storms and 40 degree heat.

The riders have increased their average speed to 17.25mph at the last time station and are still only 30mins behind the Wounded Warrior team.
