Default Who would win war U.S. or China?

Who would win in a full out war, the United States or China. What strategies would the prosperous nation use? What would spark such a confrontation?

Is this a serious question? While I find the discussion of such a question rather daunting I think the U.S. would win no questions asked. Superior technology in all areas. While technology is not the answer to everything, china does have a gigantic population at its hands and a bustling manufacturing industry.

If China could reach the U.S. homeland and drop a nuke, or shoot a intercontinental missile that would be tremendous trouble. It really boils down to which nation is less moral and resorts to weapons of mass destruction or biological weapons. In a fair fight, China would be utterly destroyed, why? I suspect by this point the U.S. will have a massive robot army, with UAV's dominating the fields and reconaissance in all areas.

While now supposedly suffering from a lack of engineers, the U.S. has a large creative nature to its industry, unlike the robotic, theft driven military of the chinese, who dwell on Russian technology and stolen U.S. technology. The comparison between chinese vs. U.S. university education is also another story, it's hard to refute that U.S. schools are not satisfactory but it's with no doubt that the top level U.S. universitys are far superior.

Victory U.S.: More robotic technology, highly armed population, dominant in the skys and in space

I think i'll have to agree that the U.S. would be the winner in such a battle.

I really think that America would kick China's ass. Think about it. We have been Fighting wars continuously for ages, almost nonstop, since the civil war. Every generation has it's war. WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan vs. Russia, Desert Storm, Bosnia, and now, Iraq. China Fights wars too, but most of the time, they are marching away in their strange variation of the duck walk, lined up at protests and such, but never really fighting. I can't remember when the last time since Vietnam where China has fought in a true all out war. We, however, have all sorts of crazy shit to throw at them. Why do you think that China wants to steal all of our secrets?

    Default Blind Nationalism FTW?

You all are way off. China would own us. Firstly, a lot of things, even food, come from China. Now if they cut off their supply, it still wouldn't economically starve us. But their allies would. Iran, Saudi Arabia, and just about every Middle Eastern country would ally with China. Russia, ally with Iran, would follow suit. Now we are starved. Bye bye gasoline, or most of it anyway. Now its just us and Britain vs 2 nuclear powers and crazy countries with our gas. Really, I think Israel would have more to worry about.

US and britain? I'm not sure about that. How about Japan, Australia, France, Spain, Canada.. there's a lot more. Econoically supposedly starving a nation means harm to various others. That's assuming we don't have tremendous reserves. We provide china with "a lot" of things also. I'll get back to this convo later

He also brings up some really good points. Also, anyone ever wonder how much U.S. military technology is actually hidden from us? There could be many technologies that aren't readily available to the commoner but are most likely far beyond what we know about now.

It's pretty obvious that you haven't looked at the U.S. nuclear arsenal though. Oil is all a stupid ploy to create alternative fuel sources. If Venezuela decided it wanted to play that "bye bye gasoline" game we'd run in and take their oil by force. That's if the people don't overthrow Chavez for his socialist stupidity before the U.S. even had to do anything.

At this time, between our two prospering nations, it would have to be a failure of epic proportions within either nation's government to ignite war.

Farther down the road, give a take a few decades when the world's natural resources are depleted even more and inflation is unbearable by relative populations, desperate times will call out for desperate measures--human history proves this much, and the records show that we have not evolved much by way of thinking and philosophy these past millenia, despite what we have achieved.

As for the War itself: heavily depends on one nation's economic capacity and the availability of resources. Thus, neither side would be able to sustain all-out war for very long; stalemate. However, because war is not a game, should one of such of magnitude occur, we all lose.

it depends who drop nukes first without warning. but obviously the U.S has more nukes like 1 million rofl.

    every country has secret weapons.

since it is assumed technology is the winner, efficient killing is what people are after. the people's republic of china have the largest army in the world.
we're not talking about gunfire fights here, if so china's population is overwhelming.

if you want advanced technology to win you may as well spam nukes at each other.

With all the UAV's the U.S. is building, there's a point where a huge population may not help. Especially if you cannot arm them, teh U.S. has an extremely heavily armed population so invasion is almost a nono. In china, a chemical or biological weapon would spread like wild far. Chinese nukes would most likely never reach the U.S. before the U.S. nuked the shit out of China. If a confrontation like this truly came about, the very intercontinental missile china may have aimed at the U.S. will end up blowing up right over their own nation by some U.S. defense system.
