I must say these guys running around with SAM is a worry.
In battle it is OK but how long before a fringe group uses it against a comercial plane?

Yeah I mentioned a day ago that they've been using Igla's for the last month now. Whenever news breaks out, it is usually pretty late ;D

Peace man.....oooops I mean durka durka lol, the guy flipping the peace sign changed his tune real quick when he saw the other dude flipping the "rebel" finger. He is probably dead now for flashing an infidel gesture.

Syria has a large stockpile of the SA-7's for sure and from what I've read, it's thought that they have a number of the SA-18's too. It is also thought that the stockpile of SA-7's are quie old, much older than the effective service life of missle system itself. Still a threat though.

Just reading a little about the Strela and Igla MANPADS, quite a bit of these things floating around in the world. Even our Stinger is quite prolific (just putting a few on the market will generate copies from places like Egypt/China/Iran/etc). The USSR, US, and even Russia have been known to sell these quite a bit, mostly to people like Gaddafi, then they end up in these 'rebels' hands... Just like the violence in Syria, eventually the government is going to collapse and all the weapons they have hidden away (chemical) will be available to... Well, I think we all know... God willing, right? I love how our politicians are so keen on their support, short sighted goals, lead to long term problems. Organizations like the Taliban and al-Qaeda make a little 'Soviet-like oppression' seem like a grand idea.

I post this because, after watching many personal videos of the syrian army, one thing glaringly sticks out..... The grizzled old sergeants I see w the big faces and lol sometimes cool mustaches. I comment on this bc i find it significant, many of you veterans here know that the backbone of a fighting force are those veteran career soldiers who the old ones will take orders from and the new ones look to for guidance in times of battle. In the videos i watch, they pop up over and over again and to me that says a couple of things: 1) these guys arent going anywhere, they were borne soldiers and will die old soldiers. 2) they have been there and done that, 1980's the syrian army was busy!!! 3) the experience they have can carry the younger ones until they gain combat experience, and believe me they are. ------ I have grown an interest in these types of videos bc you can learn more about the conflict on the ground and the people involved, by watching how they act, facial expressions, presence on camera denoting leaders, etc... I learn something everday. OH and you will notice the heavy alawite presence in the rebublican guard by the lighter skin. I know stereotypes arent goood lol Until my next post, later friends
