Employee Shoots Dead At Least Seven People
A US employee has shot dead at least seven people before turning the gun on himself at a beer and wine distribution firm.
Omar S Thornton, 34, reportedly entered Hartford Distributors in Manchester,Connecticut, and fired at employees with a .223 calibre semi-automatic rifle.
He carried out the shootings at the family-owned wholesaler at around 7.30am local time when a shift change was taking place, with 35 to 40 people inside.
A gunman who killed at least seven people and himself at a family-owned beer and wine wholesaler in Manchester, Conn., may have been motivated by racial discrimination, the Hartford Courant reported Tuesday.
Thornton, a driver at the company who was hired about one year ago, may have been motivated by racial discrimination, reports said.
The Hartford Courant newspaper, citing a woman whose daughter dated Thornton for eight years, reported that he had allegedly complained about being racially harassed at work.
It also claimed Thornton, who is black, complained about the treatment to his superiors but they did nothing about it.
