7/12/2010 - SOUTHWEST ASIA (AFNS) -- Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and International Security Assistance Force troops in Afghanistan during operations July 11, according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.

Air Operations in Afghanistan

Close-Air Support

Qal-E-Naw
Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcon pilots and F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The aircrews conducted a show of force and pilots conducted a show of presence to deter enemy activity. On-scene joint terminal attack controllers and ground controllers declared the engagements successful

Ghazni
Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet pilots and F-16C pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The Navy pilots conducted shows of force and Air Force pilots conducted a show of force with flares and a show of presence to deter enemy activity. JTACs and ground controllers called the engagements successful

Tarin Kowt
Coalition aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The aircrews conducted shows of force to deter enemy activity. JTACs called the engagement successful.

Asmar
An Air Force B-1B Lancer aircrew and F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The bomber aircrew conducted a show of presence. The F-15E aircrews and the B-1B aircrew released precision-guided munitions against enemy positions to deter enemy activity. JTACs and ground controllers declared the engagement successful.

Sheykabad
Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The pilots conducted shows of presence, a show of force, performed multiple strafing runs and released multiple rockets against an enemy target. JTACs called the engagements successful.

Asadabad
F-16C pilots and F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. The pilots conducted a show of presence. The aircrews conducted shows of force with flares and released precision guided-munitions against enemy targets to deter enemy activity. JTACs and ground controllers declared the engagements successful

Farah Province
An Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Farah Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 88,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Nuristan Province
An Air Force C-130 Hercules aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Nuristan Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 11,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Oruzgan Province
A C-17 aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Oruzgan Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 70,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

Paktika Province
A C-17 aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Paktika Province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 70,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
