A love of pubs, tucking in to the Sunday roast and talking about the weather have topped a list of 50 things which make us typically English.
A survey of 5,000 people also came up with one or two stranger quirks – like wanting our sporting heroes to do badly or quizzing people about their journeys.
Almost 75% of people believed enjoying a beer in a pub was typically English. A Sunday roast got the votes of 71% while 64% thought discussing the weather was our most noticeable trait.
Yesterday Chris Lewis of Wells Bombardier Beer, which organised out the poll, said: “We can support England this summer by waving our flags with pride and also by remembering all those typically English traits that make our country what it is.”
So here, in descending order, are the 50 things which make the country what it is:
1 Love of pubs
