Student fights for life after being 'doused in rum' and turned into human fireball at end-of-year university party

A university student is critically ill after being turned into a human fireball at an end-of-year party.
Glenn Collins, 18, was sleeping when he was allegedly set alight after being covered in rum.
Police and ambulance crews arrived at the flat in Manchester to find him with severe third-degree burns to his face, chest and arms.
He was taken to hospital and is now at Wythenshawe Burn Clinic, heavily sedated and on life support.
The student is also suffering from chest and lung infections.
Mr Collins's mother Susan said her sons injuries were horrific.
'It is a cruel, evil thing to happen to him. He has deep burns all over his body and will be disfigured forever,' she said.
'I've had to keep the family away from the hospital. Seeing Glenn is too horrific.'
Mr Collins had been at a party ot celebrate the end of his first year at the University of Chester where he is studying sports science.
A keen athlete, he is a member of the university's football team.
'Glenn is such an intelligent, amazing son,' Mrs Collins said.
'I've had hundreds of messages and the house is full of flowers. Groups of lads have come to the door and given their support.
'He was due home from university on Sunday. We had a surprise party planned.
'I have a hundred reasons to cry, but I will find a thousand reasons to smile.'
Jack Brown, 20, an Australian student and Rohan Foley, 21, an American gap year student,have been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.
They are due to appear at Manchester crown court today for a preliminary hearing.
