BBC Middle East editor http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/48095000/jpg/_48095836_48095831.jpg Bashar al-Assad reiterated that Iran would remain his ally Israel's attack on the Gaza aid ship has increased the chances of war in the Middle East, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has told the BBC.
He said Syria was working to prevent a regional war, but there was no chance of a peace deal with the current Israeli administration, which he called a "pyromaniac government".
Mr Assad also rejected claims he was arming Hezbollah in Lebanon.
He said that Middle East was going through a period of momentous change.
He has the air of a man who thinks matters are going his way, even though he shares the common Middle Eastern view that the region is getting more dangerous.
Mr Assad said the Israeli attack on the Free Gaza flotilla that killed nine Turkish activists was having serious consequences.
"[It has] destroyed any chance for peace in the near future," he said.
"Mainly because it proved that this government is another pyromaniac government, and you cannot achieve peace with such [a] government."
Mr Assad denied that he was sending weapons to the Hezbollah movement in Lebanon.
Israel, the US and Britain are convinced not only that he is, but they say he is also sending bigger, better and more accurate ones than before.
He seems in no mood to respond to American attempts to woo him away from Syria's long term strategic alliance with Iran.
He said he is happy to do business with the United States. But Iran would stay an ally.

Let's check the scores:

1948 Israeli War for Independence: Israel wins. Syria loses.

1967 The Six Day War: Israel wins. Syria loses.

1973 Yom Kippur War: Israel wins. Syria loses.

Final score: Israel 3 - Syria 0

Okay Syria, keep shit talking. After all, getting the shit kicked out of you in 2 wars, and having to crawl back to Damascus after you couldn't even expel a bunch of HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS out of Palestine is plenty reason the west needs to take your military ability seriously, am I right?

Syria = owned.

We've taken them all on before, we will take them all on again and we will keep taking all of them on until they learn that we are not a country to be messed with.

You'd think with all of that money and power, Baby Assad could afford to buy himself a chin...

Or perhaps some respectable military hardware NOT from the 1970's.

Have fun with those T-55's and Stuka rockets!

Syria facing Israel nowadays on the battlefield would be like Cavemen throwing spears at the 82nd Airborne Division.

Check your history lesson, friend! In 1948, Syria was not involved in the war, it had just become independent (1946) therefore was not ready. However, it is true that Israel had triumphed in the six day war thanks to American support, and that's when the Golan occupation started. In 1973 Syria striked Israel on the jewish holiday of Yom Kippour and have exited victorious (most of the Golan heights were liberated). Moreover, your HOLOCOST SURVIVORS were and still are supported by every single NATO member opposed to Syria who is boycotted by every single NATO member and only has Iran by its side.

My good friend,
Which American support do you speak of during the 6 day war? Arms sure...what about the bucketloads of Soviet munitions you and every single arab state was getting? I'm sorry but you exited how from the Yom Kippur war? Last time I checked a Yom Kippur war map Israel got within 40km of Damascus...then Syria cried to mummy U.N. and daddy Russia. Oh and during the 1948 war, Syria sent 5,000 along with the other 150,000+ soldiers the the Arabs fielded against us.
Stop being retarded.
Thank you.

And I love how you say Syria wasn't ready for the war in 1948 because Syria only gained independence in 1946 (That's 2 years time for preparation) when Syria (and ALL the other arab countries that surround Israel attacked when Israel was barley a day old so don't even try to use the "oh we weren't ready for the zionist oppressor durrrr" excuse :D
