It only took them this long to finally update the AK 47. Sad huh?

I bet the slightly heavier barrel will help the recoil

With up to date technology, it was bound to happen.
But to price may be limiting

You mean the AK-74. The '47 was phased out long ago.

I'm still witing for Russia to field the weapons. They are still using AK-74s even when the 103, 105, and 107 have been long into production.

Is the '74 chambered a different variant of ammunition? Or is it still the standard 7.62x39?

The AK-74 fires a 5.45x39mm.

looks like they could have used a finer tuned servo motor on that mounted heavy, new ak thing looks ugly
