An Air Force F-16 fighter jet with engine problems jettisoned two fuel tanks into Biscayne Bay Friday morning, authorities said. The single-engine aircraft, one of 27 F-16 fighter jets assigned to the Homestead Air Reserve Base, was on a training mission when the pilot noticed the engine light blinking. To land safely, the pilot released the two 175-gallon tanks two miles southwest of Elliott Key, said Lt. Col. Thomas Davis, spokesman for the 482nd Fighter Wing. The pilot was not hurt.
