There is now less than a month to go until this year's Armed Forces Day (AFD) celebrations get under way on Saturday 26 June 2010.

Designed to honour our Service personnel, past, present and future, the theme for AFD is 'Show your Support'.

The national event takes place on 26 June and will be hosted by Cardiff City Council. This will be complemented by more than 170 community-led events in towns and cities across the UK during the week before and the week after 26 June.

Public support for AFD is growing every day with more than 260,000 fans on the dedicated Facebook fan page and almost 1300 followers on Twitter. There are lots of messages of support posted every day.

Monday 21 June sees the 'Fly the Flag' initiative where local authorities across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland will be provided with an AFD flag to fly in honour of the event.

'Uniform to Work day' this year is on Friday 25 June. Reservists (including volunteer Reserve Training personnel) from all three Services are encouraged to wear their Service uniform at their civilian place of work. It is held every year and is now incorporated as part of the AFD celebrations.

In parallel with this, veterans are also encouraged to wear their HM Armed Forces Veterans Badge on 25 June.
