Ground to air missile during a military parade for the Taliban in Kabul in August last year to mark the 72 anniversary of the independence of AfghanistanWho are the Taliban? And objectives? And internal and external factors that have helped the emergence and development? And how to spread their influence on most of Afghan territory? And the nature of their relations with neighboring countries such as Pakistan, Iran and Russia? .. These questions and others are trying to highlight in this report.
Created the Islamic Movement of students of religious schools, known as the Taliban (plural word student in the Pashto language) in Kandahar province in southwestern Afghanistan on the border with Pakistan in 1994 by Mullah Mohammad Omar Mujahid, where they want to eliminate manifestations of moral corruption and restoring conditions of security and stability to Afghanistan, and helped the students of religious schools who have pledged allegiance to him a prince in 1994.
Ethnicity
Most of members of the Taliban in Pashtun nationalism, which focused most of her children in the east and south of the country, representing about 38% of the population of Afghans of nearly 27 million people.
Ideological,
Sunni Islamist Taliban movement embrace the Hanafi school, is the Islamic ruling on a doctrine of one provision are not likely to give and take around, and thus the implementation of legal provisions by the Taliban even though there are other views or doctrines of a religious duty violate them no escape from its implementation.
He has taught members of the movement in the Deobandi religious schools (relative to the village of Deoband in India) and affected by the curriculum of these schools, which reflected on their form of government. They focused on those schools of Islamic Sciences Kaltfisser and modern curriculum in addition to some modern science that are taught in a traditional manner is outdated.
Graded students in these schools from one stage to another, he begins at the primary level and middle-Va'ea and complementary, and at last provides the student years, specializes in which to study modern science and so-called "session to talk," and during the examination of student change rank scientific stage to another, it is called a word "demanded" that brings in the Pashto language to the "Taliban" is anyone who entered the school and starts to educational attainment, and then "fill" He who is well advanced in the curriculum has not graduated yet, and finally, "Molloy" He who complete the curriculum and out of the cycle modern placed on the his turban and obtained a degree in teaching.
Psychological characteristics of members of the movement
Characterized by several members of the movement characteristics of the most important psychological stubbornness and rigidity and endure, like the Afghans in general and the residents of the province of Kandahar, the movement that arose in particular.
Perhaps the contest People's known in Kandahar province, called "putting out embers," What gives the signal, the Valmsabakp summarized in getting the players to coals burning in their hands for a long time to die, and be a winner in this contest is not moved or Itooh. It also features members of this movement the ability to tolerate foul play, hardship, and respect for religious scholars, as well as dedication to the idea and hard work to implement them, and simplicity that characterize their lives.
Internal and external factors for the emergence of the movement
Helped the rapid spread of the movement and the enthusiasm of Afghans in many states, especially southern and eastern several internal and external factors, including:

First: internal factors

http://www.aljazeera.net/mritems/images/2001/9/16/1_55089_1_4.jpgThe assassination of Ahmad Shah Massoud
Commander of the Northern Alliance anti-Taliban by elements suspected of belonging to the Taliban1 - civil wars
The civil wars raging clashes between factions of the Afghan opposition by a power struggle and the faith of each party that more entitled to the verdict, which caused a high number of casualties reached more than 40 thousand in addition to other physical losses serious, did not succeed by international mediators to put an end to this war, and the Therefore, an important role in Iqbal large segments of the Afghan Taliban, who saw it as a way to rid Afghanistan of the horrors of these wars and restore security and stability to the country.
2 - chaos and disorder
Chaos spread in the body after the Afghan forces defeat the Soviet occupation, Afghanistan was divided between the warring groups and factions, and has become the country's unity is threatened as a result, not a unified force to the people forcing them to respect the laws and abide by the decisions issued. Viban the emergence of the movement was the Government of Rabbani and Masoud controlled only seven states in northern and central Afghanistan, while controlling the leader of former communist Rashid Dostum to the six states in the north, was a "shura, Nangarhar," control of three states in the east, and the Department of Ismail Khan's control in western Afghanistan, as well to the many states that were without any kind of management, was the Taliban hope to the Afghan people to maintain the unity of the country and prevent the fission of procedure.
3 - moral corruption
The rampant corruption as a result of deposits of the communist era has experienced Afghanistan and control communist leader Rashid Dostum in some states and administrative chaos that have made it difficult for the specific destination to fight the vices that have spread in Afghan society, the conservative nature, which made the movement of religious students (the Taliban) - that I took it upon themselves to fight against such phenomena - resonates in the hearts of Afghans.
4 - insecurity
Afghanistan has suffered a lot of loose security situation, which was the hijacking of vehicles, especially of the relief organizations and acts of looting and armed clashes, which was located between the armed groups in crowded places, which had resulted in dozens of deaths and hundreds injured. As a result, extort money and to impose the types of royalties, so the people wanted no authority to impose security and restore stability and prevent these violations, paving the way for the Taliban, who were able to deal effectively with this matter until freed Afghanistan from its effects.
5 - Layer war profiteers
A layer showed signs of a get rich quick post-war Afghan-Soviet because of trade in minerals and precious stones, arms and ammunition and piles of scrap metal left by the war and to control some of the ranking of funds resulting from the customs and border taxes, there are now a wealthy middle of the people is one of the world's poorest people which has created feelings of frustration on these, and they wish that the Taliban getting rid of them and work on the redistribution of wealth in the country a fair manner.

Second: External factors

http://www.aljazeera.net/mritems/images/2001/8/7/1_48429_1_4.jpgAn official of the Taliban shows the movement of the Gospel which was confiscated from a number of Western aid workers who have been detained on charges of movement to evangelize Muslims in AfghanistanThe external factors have combined many of them at one time at the international, regional and set the stage for the Taliban.
1 - Pakistan
Pakistan is seeking to cooperate with a friendly government in Afghanistan to facilitate trade between the republics of Central Asia, did not find Bgitha government Rabbani and Masoud, which was accused together with India, and tried to overthrow that government by Hekmatyar and Dostum, but failed to do so, and when he emerged the Taliban swiftly Pakistan "Leave them, and to cooperate with it.
2 - United States
The United States has crossed U.S. interests with the interests of the Taliban did not object to its appearance in the beginning and then quickly varied interests then turned the situation and become one of the bitterest enemies. In the beginning, you want the U.S. to strike at the Afghan fundamentalist fundamentality most of them even without the stage for a fundamentalist group, one can adapt in the orbit of American politics then, and wish to Washington as well as tightening the siege on Iran's influence and prevent it from incursions toward the East and particularly in the republics of Central Asia and the Caspian region which contains the second largest oil reserves in the world after the Arabian Gulf. Therefore did not object to the United States did not stand a stumbling block to the advancement of the Taliban.
Objectives of the Movement
The Taliban are on the lips of their spokesman Mullah Abdul Mannan Niazi on 3/11/1994 after seizing the Directorate of Spin Boldak that the goal of movement is to restore security and stability and the collection of weapons from all parties in addition to removal of royalties from collection centers that were taken from public roads and violated the people's wealth their symptoms.

But after it seized control of a number of states and has been accepted in principle by broad segments of the Afghan people, weary of civil war, has developed a movement of its goals to become the goal is to establish an Islamic government as stated by Mullah Mohammad Omar, in his address to the scholars in Kandahar on September 4 4 / 1996. Movement have been published on its objectives as follows:

From behind the Taliban?
There have been many analysis which dealt with third parties that were behind the creation of the Taliban movement and its emergence on the scene, some attributed to Pakistani intelligence and others attributed to the CIA during the Afghan war Soviet, which denies itself all that and tells the story on the San founder Mullah Mohammad Omar, how they have evolved and developed.
And those who attribute the movement to Pakistan are relying on the tour, which Belbays by Pakistan's interior minister at the time Gen. Naseer Babar in southern and western Afghanistan in October 1994, where he met with leaders and officials in Kandahar - a stronghold of the movement - and Herat, and sent a convoy of relief of 30 bus under the leadership of a colonel of the ISI and the Taliban was able to save them after the group tried to Agha Mansoor Jilani's objection, the Taliban emerged in the international media since that day, who was watching the news seize the convoy.
But it is hard that the Taliban had started operation before that at least four months, came to appear synchronized with the desire of Pakistan to obtain the support of a popular movement of the scale of the Taliban, which is beginning to win the support of the Afghan people day after day.
http://www.aljazeera.net/mritems/images/2001/6/26/1_41858_1_3.jpgMaulvi Fazlur Rahman, Amir of the Jamiat Ulema Islam in PakistanOthers believe that the Maulvi Fazlur Rahman, Amir Jamiat Ulema Islam in Pakistan, who chaired the Foreign Affairs Committee in parliament in the Pakistani government of Benazir Bhutto is the one who put the idea of creating the Taliban and consulted the Burhanuddin Rabbani and Abdul Rasul Sayyaf, had agreed to its establishment as it will be blow to the forces of Hekmatyar's arch-nemesis at the time. Some analysts believe that Maulvi Fazlur Rehman was not influential personality in what was going on in Afghanistan, nor was not possible to create a movement like the Taliban.
The Mullah Mohammad Omar, founder of the movement, says that the idea originated in his mind after thinking rampant corruption in the province of Kandahar, where he was receiving Sciences religious and felt it necessary to put an end to corruption, which spread chaos and disruption of security throughout the country, and some students of religious schools have agreed to work to eliminate this corruption and pledged allegiance to him a prince to them. In 1500 of 04.03.1996, met Afghan scholars from various regions and pledged allegiance to him the Emir of the country.

Troops have the Taliban military gains quick and was able to defeat the military leaders with extensive experience martial arts during the Afghan war Soviet Union, and the reason for this is due to the power of the religious impulse engine for these students, who issued a fatwa calling them scholars that what they are doing is fighting for the sake of God, and because of public sympathy that If convicted, the desire to get rid of insecurity and chaos that the living conditions of Afghanistan. The stages of the seizure of power as follows: http://www.aljazeera.net/mritems/images/2001/9/24/1_56709_1_10.jpgMap shows areas of Afghanistan controlled by the Taliban and the opposition-controlled North

Organization and leadership
http://www.aljazeera.net/mritems/images/2001/4/11/image_occurrence9345_6.jpgOffice of the Commander of the Faithful Muhammad Omar of the Taliban groupThe Taliban do not have a strong organization, it is not then a clear management structure and regulations governing its internal affairs and programs, in breeding programs for its members, or even membership cards distributed to members of their registration.
Taliban say they are not party like other parties do not care about the rules of the administrative organizational structure, but want to serve all the people through the activation of government departments. However, they have the regulatory structure is sub-in:
Commander of the Faithful
Mullah Mohammad Omar Mujahid, has wide powers, chosen by the Taliban of Prince in August 1994, and was confirmed in 1500 the world of scholars from Afghanistan in 1996 the Emir of the country changed its name to the prince of believers, and has legal rights there may be a violation of his command, nor may be removed only if it goes against religious instruction or is unable to carry out its responsibilities, and remain in office until his death.
Provisional Ruling Council
Mullah Mohammad Omar has appointed a council to run things in Kabul for an interim period after falling by the Taliban in the 27/09/1997, and works directly under the supervision of the Council, consisting of Stp people was headed by Mullah Mohammad Rabbani before his death, and then his successor, Mullah Mohammed Hassan.
Central Shura Council of the Movement
This Council is not a fixed number of members recruited, although the movement in the beginning of its formation, have announced that a 70-member headed by Mullah Mohammad Hassan Rahmani, to Kandahar.
Shura Council of Higher Taliban
Considered each of the leaders within the movement known members of this Council, and no members by designated him, the most famous members Mohammad Hassan Rahmani, Noureddine al-Turabi and the charity of God and charity, and Syed Mohammad Haqqani, Yar Mohammad, and the Under-Ahmad Mutawakkil.
Cabinet
This Council consists of the agents of Minister, and held weekly meetings constantly, and most of them young people, and rarely remains one of the members of the Council in office as constantly changing. The Mullah Mohammad Omar issued a decision to merge several ministries reduction of expenditures.
Dar Al Central
And includes a number of scientists to their referendum on matters of legality, based in Kandahar, the birthplace of the Taliban movement and residence of the Commander of the Faithful, Mullah Mohammad Omar. The Council is chaired by Maulvi Noor Mohammad Saqib. It is well-known scientists Aldiobandi Mawlawi Abdul Ali, the Pakistani scientist Sher Ali Shah, Maulvi Nizamuddin Hamazi.

Councils in the U.S.
Granting of Mullah Mohammad Omar, broad powers to governors, and the shape of each and the Shura Council has discussed the matters relating to the management of state government and the Taliban.

Military leadership
Support the Taliban in its conflict with the northern opposition to many of the best known military commanders, Mullah Obaidullah, Minister of Defence and Maulvi Jalaluddin Haqqani, the leader known in the Paktia, and Haji Mohammad Naeem Kochi from one state to drag.
The way the decision
Although many of the councils created by the movement, unless it believes that the Shura parameter and is not binding, important decisions are taken by Mullah Mohammad Omar Balastinas the views of the Shura, and has complete freedom of taking the views of the Shura Council or rejected.
Internal cohesion of the Taliban
Not the Taliban, an internal regulation governing its affairs, and there is a system of membership, however it is the movement of coherent from the inside, due to the background of intellectual standard of its components as most of them graduated from religious schools and one belonging to school Deobandi opposed to intellectual currents innovative. They are loyal to their idea and convinced them and consider the work for which the jihad for the sake of God. And enjoy the Prince of movement a kind of spiritual control on individuals who are violating sin legitimacy, and the lack of figures central with a stronger voice in the movement impact on internal stability, helped also by the movement of immediate sanctions for offenders and the constant change in positions so as not to form pockets of internal movement or centers of power, as they do not accept the other members of the Afghan parties, particularly in senior and decision-making positions.
Political thought of the movement
Taliban reject the use of the word democracy, because democracy gives the right of legislating for the people, not God. Does not see the importance of movement for a constitution or statute to regulate the affairs of the State and believes that the Qur'an and Sunnah are the Constitution of the Islamic State.
The movement of the faithful as a successor elected by the people of the solution and the contract, no fixed term for the post of Commander of the Faithful, and is isolated only in the case of disability or death, or if ATI is contrary to religion. And the Shura Council also believes the movement parameter only and are not binding and is interested in the movement considerable attention appearance of the Islamic as envisaged, order the person of men to grow beards and wear turbans and prevent long hair and deprive the music, singing, pictures and prevent women's work outside the home and oversees the implementation bodies, the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice.
Do not allow Hamas to form new political parties and does not accept the existing parties, says the leader of the movement in that he rejected because it is "founded on ethnic, tribal, and linguistic, a kind of partisanship ignorance which has caused problems and hostility and division among the people."
The position of the neighboring countries
Vary the position of the Taliban in neighboring countries, for Iran's characterized their relationship very tense, movement accuses Iran of working on the export of the Shiite sect in Afghanistan and supported by opposition parties, while it accuses Iran of persecuting the Shia minority there.
As for the position of India, Russia and some Central Asian countries, these countries do not hide the concern about the Taliban and work to support the opposition, India believes that the Taliban a strategic depth to Pakistan and the open front markets of Central Asia, while afraid of Russia and its allies in Central Asia, the influence of the Taliban and radical Islam , and the Taliban, in turn, does not conceal its hostility to these countries.
For Pakistan, the movement was viewed as the closest and most friendly to her, even Islamabad agreed to cooperate with the United States in its war against Afghanistan following the attacks on New York and Washington on 11/9/2001.
Achievements of the movement and the drawbacks for Afghans
The Taliban, like the rest of the regimes has achieved some positives but at the same time suffer from some drawbacks.

First: achievements

Restore security and stability.

Consolidation of the Afghan territory.

The elimination of corruption and cronyism.

Anti-corruption moral development.

Collection of weapons.

Layer on the Elimination of war profiteers.

The establishment of courts and the creation of a management system in the States.

Second: the drawbacks

Present a distorted picture of the Islamic model of governance.

Intolerance of opinion.

Lack of qualified cadres and the grandparents.

Lack of interest in modern education.

As at the atheist th September 2001, one day a watershed in the history of the Taliban, on that day took place in New York and Washington, USA, explosions have killed more than six thousand people, which he accused the al-Qaeda led by Osama bin Laden, saying the United States Afghanistan and the Taliban a prime target for revenge after they refused to hand over bin Laden to the lack of evidence proving his involvement, does not yet know which they would move in light of overwhelming American desire for revenge.

This is how the common Taliban see's himself.
Very strange indeed. The last paragragh says a lot.
To me they are still indoctrinated pesants with scant regard for human life
