There's plenty of moderate muslims out there. I happen to have a fellow soldier in my unit that converted to Islam. And he's as moderate as possible! He's really cool and helped alot with interpreting when we were in Iraq last year. I've spoken to him about the Islamic faith and we both agreed that the moderate Muslims of the world aren't helping the image of Islam by inaction. You never hear about Ayatollahs or Mujtahids CONDEMNING the actions of Islamists worldwide. They remain silent, and when they and other muslims fail to speak out against hijackers of their faith they are in effect sanctioning the beheadings, kidnappings, child rape, molestation of girls, ethnic cleansing. and other forms of terrorism.

I wish that Muslims in North America (American, Canadian, Mexican?) would just speak out and say "We Condemn the actions of those crazy assholes overseas that practice Wahabbism and will be moderate and fair with our faith, the way it was ALWAYS supposed to be."

It ,maybe obvious, but all religions have extremists.
I honestly and truthfully believe that is all religions,
followed the ten commandments 95% of the world could live in peace.
I believe that; "to be tolerated, one must be tolerant".

We have as a world of people, have the gift of laughter and friendship.
Sadly elements, i.e. extremists, find greed and pain easier to share.
Yet the guy walking the streets of Afghanistan they feel a lot of warmth
from simple people. Yet the control and power of the insurgent is ever present.
Just sad and abhorrent.

Well posted, Ian! Very true about how a soldier walks the streets and feels warmth and respect from the indigenous people they're controlling, but yet crazy assholes threaten a society because of intolerance and hatred.
