At a gunnery range near Pocheon, South Korea Monday, a soldier of the 4th Battalion, 2nd Aviation Regiment, loads training ammunition into an AH-64D Apache Longbow attack helicopter. Part of the Army’s 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade, the battalion, based at Camp Humphreys, has been conducting live-fire training that began Jan. 12 and was to wrap up Wednesday.

Soldiers of the Army’s Apache attack helicopter battalion in South Korea spent the past two weeks at a gunnery range near Pocheon where they carried out annual live-fire Apache gunnery.

The 4th Battalion, 2nd Aviation Regiment is based at Camp Humphreys and is part of the 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade.

The gunnery began Jan. 12 and was to wrap up Wednesday.

Ground crews honed their skills at loading rockets, missiles and other ammunition onto the battalion’s AH-64D Apache Longbow attack helicopters, which then took off and fired at ground targets on the range.

The training wasn’t limited to the aviators and their ground crews. Other battalion soldiers — cooks, radio operators, helicopter fuelers, among others — got to practice doing their jobs in field conditions.
