I've just been reading up on these horrible little critters.....http://www.camelspiders.net/camel-spider-cont.htm

I was just wondering if any of you people here had any stories to tell about them?

Peace =)

I was in Iraq board out of my mind so went looking for a camel spider.
I was turning over rocks when I found one eating a lizard
He wasn’t very happy to see me and jumped right at me
As I started to run I could swear I herd it scream.
Turned out to just be my battle buddy
I stopped after 20ft or so and he stopped so I snapped some photos

Are camel spiders any relation to camel toes?

Yeah they are nasty. I had one chewing on a piece of tire on my humvee. Actually chewed a little off. I hate spiders!!!

One of those monsters hitched a ride back to the UK in a kit bag. The soldier's kids saw it zoom across the floor and they had to evacuate the house!

Some other myths about this almost harmless spider are:

They feed on sleeping soldiers.
They can leap 20ft into the air.
They have been known to run alongside military vehicles while screaming.
One particularly notorious spider was said to have disemboweled a camel.

In all honesty, if I saw one of those things crawling up my bedsheets in the night ... I'd scream like I didn't have a pair.
