There was a documentary on this a while back up here in the frozen north. The guy is for real. He really wants to make a usable armour for the troop in the field. It would be complete with sensors, med packs, ammo and ......etc.

He may come over as a nutjob but he is 100% behind what he does.

Not trying to throw stones or anything, but seems to have the same flaws that we have now. No cover of the lateral parts of the torso, no solid cover of the major joints (sholders, knees and elbows) and limited view and movement of the head while wearing a helmet.
Have to give him credit though, he believes in what he is doing and willing to put it out there, more then most (some would say myself included) are willing to do.

I could see this kind of thing being used for high risk search teams and stuff like that, but I can't see infantrymen running about with all this on.

what ever happened to that ''dragon skin'' body armor?

i hear form my brother, that it didnt do well in high temps over 120*F

According to the Army, the vests failed because the extreme temperature tests caused the discs to dislodge, thus rendering the vest ineffective. Pinnacle Armor affirms that their products can withstand environmental tests in accordance with military standards, as does testing by the Aberdeen Test Center
