680 pounds pot seized; 3 soldiers arrested

Three soldiers were arrested Tuesday after they were found in possession of 680 pounds of marijuana and $10,000 cash during a traffic stop in Scottsdale.
Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies made the arrest during part of the department's two-day crime sweep in the area, Sheriff's officials said.
The soldiers, Dwayne Campbell, Llewellyn Stamoulis and Romaine May, served in Afghanistan, according to a Sheriff's press release.
The three were dressed in military uniform and carried valid military ID when deputies pulled them over on Interstate 17 near Anthem for speeding, the release said. They were in a rental car. Officials believe at least one of the men came from New York, went to Tucson and was headed to Cincinnati, Ohio.
All three were arrested on suspicion of marijuana possession, drug transportation, money laundering and conspiracy. The driver was also booked on a count of driving with a suspended license.
During the two-day crime sweep, deputies arrested 51 people, including 37 suspected undocumented immigrants. Three of the 37 were turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The other 34 were arrested on suspicion of human smuggling.
