I have an old 3-cell Mag light that is very useful this time of year when I have to look for addresses in the dark.
Problem has always been that Mag Light flashlights suck-up batteries and a weak yellow beam doesn't do much illuminating.
So, yesterday I bought a LED replacement bulb.
My hope was for extended battery life and I was praying it would still be adjustable and might have at least some of the range of the original.
WOW!
The sucker is waaay better!
It now casts an almost laser tight beam of bright white light a hundred yards.

UPDATE!

The Ace Hardware salesman said; "lets see if it works." It did, so I bought it.

I wondered .... and called MagLite and asked if there was anything wrong with using their 3watt LED for a 4-cell light in my 3-cell MagLite,
and I was told that the proper bulb for the 3-cell would perform better and use less power.

Then I discovered Ace Hardware doesn't normally carry the MagLite replacement bulb. I had found the only one that had their own stash.

I upgraded my Mini Maglite with an aftermarket LED but it's no longer adjustable.
If I can find it, I'll give you the info.
