Bragg to present new Green Beret battalion

FORT BRAGG, N.C. — Fort Bragg will have a new Green Beret battalion in the second phase of a major expansion of special forces units over the next several years.
The 4th Battalion will be presented during a ceremony Tuesday on the 3rd Special Forces Group parade field at Bragg.
The battalion will add at least 400 soldiers to the post in central North Carolina. Officials have said each of the five active groups in the Army Special Forces will gain a new battalion under the expansion plan.
The 3rd Special Forces Group has been frequently deployed to Afghanistan since 2001. The battalion will provide relief for the soldiers in the unit.
