ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (CNN) -- A suspected U.S. drone attack killed five militants Friday when a missile was fired on a Taliban stronghold into a village in northwest Pakistan, Pakistani government sources told CNN.
They said three people were wounded in the attack in North Waziristan, a mountainous region that borders Afghanistan.
An official from the Political Agent Office said one missile from the drone hit the home of Abdul Majid in Garhiwam Bahadur Khel. He said the house was used by the Taliban as a Jihadi center. The Political Agent Office represents the Pakistani government in the area.
Pakistan's Interior Ministry also confirmed the strike and deaths. The ministry said the home and a vehicle outside were destroyed.
A resident, Din Muhammad Mehsud, said the eight victims were the only people in the house. A group of Taliban members had just gone out.
