So I may sound heartless in this video when I say "Is it bad that I don't give a fuck about this kid?". Got it, it sounds horrible. However let me try to explain a bit. The kids in this particular village were absolute hellions. They threw rocks at our gunners every time we were in that village. They would cut the RPG netting around our vehicles making it useless. They would hop in to the back of trucks (MATVs have a truck bed in the back) to steal equipment. Our gunners resorted to throwing rocks in return to keep them from throwing rocks, or to keep them off of our vehicles. In this instance, the taliban ambushed us, we returned fire and called in mortars on their positions. The kids in the village were scrambling around our vehicles to collect our expended ammunition. Since they melt the brass down to make other things our expended ammo is almost like currency in most of Afghanistan. While this particular kid was snatching up expended brass, he was struck by a bullet fired by the taliban. Due everything I mentioned above, I did not at the time, and still do not, give one single fuck about that kid. There are plenty of kids over there I gave plenty of fucks about.
