I'm impressed that some Iraqi's actually payed attention during basic training the coalition provided the Iraqi's. The American version uses a pre surveyed stationary stand which a fake head is raised on so when an enemy sniper shoots it they then lower it and by placing an attachable camera or scope in or behind the bullet hole they then raise it back up and the camera or scope will now be perfectly aligned to look through the bullet hole so from cover they can look exactly at the spot the sniper fired from and then take the necessary steps to eliminate the sniper for good. This was actually first invented and successfully used in combat during WWI by the British I believe.http://www.apacheclips.com/boards/vbtube/images/play_thread.png (http://www.apacheclips.com/boards/media/6288-Iraqi-Soldiers-actually-using-a-correct-way-to-locate-ISIS-Sniper-2014)

If I was this guy I would want a few sandbags behind that cinderblock/mudbrick. If the sniper was suspicious he could just put a round through the wall a few feet lower than the helmet.

the rod method and the sound or impact vs shot sound will give you a good idea itself.. now if they had someone observing threw a loop hole......

I'm still just amazed they were smart enough to use a helmet to find the sniper rather than peaking over the wall to look.

The guy leaning back against the wall looks cool as a cucumber, with rounds hitting directly above him. I hope they blasted the fucker sniping them. Love to see that video. Hope you're doing well, Trip

Well they say everyday above ground is a good day so in that case I guess I am doing good, thanks

" rather than peaking over the wall to look."

That was probably option 1, then option 2...use the dead guys helmet

Haven't the Americans given them a few 'Boomerang' units? For the uninitiated, Boomerang 3 is a complex microphone array made by Raethon that pinpoints a sniper's vector and elevation by 'listening' to the track made by a supersonic bullet as it passes the array. You can (allegedly) throw one back along exactly the same vector and elevation to kill the bastard. It hurts the wrist a lot less!
