I've always wondered why we've never upgraded the Ma Deuce (Browning M2 .50 Cal) to a higher caliber like a .60 or .65 caliber the way John Browning did with his M1919 .30 caliber which he upgraded to the .50 caliber Ma Deuce. The Russian DShK for example is their version of our M2 but even though they both are usually considered .50 Cal machine guns the Russian DShK is actually a bit larger caliber somewhere between .51 to .53 caliber I believe and therefore more powerful then our M2. When dealing with Russia though everyone knows their equipment is horribly built 90% of the time or more so even though the DShK is more powerful it is very inaccurate and since accuracy is everything especially in a firefight and with the extreme accuracy of the Ma Deuce we've never cared to upgrade that .50 caliber machine gun. What do you think should we upgrade the M2 or is it powerful enough as is and like the old saying goes if it ain't broke don't fix it.
