If my memory serves me correctly the fuse has to Spin so many times before it will Arm itself so no matter how that round landed it would not have detonated.

Yes but if its set on contact does it have to hit with a hard hammer type to detonate? I know that the airburst mode is timed fuse.

The newer fuses arm after three seconds of being fired and it used to be called point detonation when the tip of the fuse impacts and detonation occurs. It may be called instantaneous detonation now and yes you are right on the air bursts also on the flares at night
