If the pilot lived through this without killing anyone in the process while hotdoging, he will surely find out how painful the UCMJ will be.

He most certainly will go through a long painful process of loosing rank, fines, extra duty for eon's and then get kicked out after Uncle Sam spanks that ass first.

I hope everyone made it through this nonsensical stunt.

@Finack Every body was fine sort of. The pilot and navigator faced DOJ criminal charges for this stunt. This maneuver apparently is called the return to target. No injuries were reported. The saying there are old pilots and there are bold pilots but there are no old bold pilots still holds truth...... Unless your flying the Apache.

Amazing. You can't get through aviation training if you're a total dumbass, but then ya pull this stupid shit? So much for that flying career. And I wonder if they can really put any of this on the Nav/Gunner?

I'm sure the recorder will determine the gunner's fate. If he was enjoying it and encouraging it, I'm sure his career will be done too... however if he was protesting it... he may have a chance at some salvation.
I doubt he was protesting though...from what i've seen with these guys is they are really tight and will always be on the same page and thought process

Every time I see this clip, it makes my balls twist up when they hit.

That air is mighty thin up in the Mountains of Afghanistan. I know...I was there.
Pilot was most likely "hotdogging" and tried pulling tricks that would have worked a few 1000 feet lower.

@EXCONservative I think you got it nailed, I was thinking speed was the biggest contributor (like the Cobra crash recently posted) but that makes a whole lot more sense good thinking.

@Ex you nailed it i have seen them go this at plenty of airshows and when they come back down they are about 50 feet of the bottom out of the manaver It is a classic combat manuver to reatain the target from another direction for rockets
