A two chopper team following what they believed to be insurgents, the guys on the ground get nervous and cover up some weapons. The gunships fire just before the insurgents start firing on them. Nice post ChapaWolf.

Classic, classic engagement. Brings a whole new meaning to a battle buddy having your back. That guy had 30mm HE raining down on him within 3 seconds of having his AK raised.

The beginning of the clip is priceless. Could you make your situation more than obvious? Well done. You win. Thanks for confirming you were up to NO good.

Just an FYI ChapaWolf... Apaches don't fire Uranium based rounds.

They have 3 types. Training, High Explosive Dual Purpose << (used exclusively now from what my friends tell me) , and High Explosive Incendiary << (I don't believe that last one is used anymore due to catastrophic safety concerns. :P ) In my experience, only tanks and various jets (A10's) make/made use of uranium depleted rounds.

Thanks for the info on the 30mm I didn't know that but it makes sense. The a-10 uses it for penetrating armor. The Apache take out a lot of soft targets and the explosive round works much better.

I remember this vid. The pilots wasn't really sure they was carrying weapons but, when dick head pulled out that AKM (or whatever it was) they all was fair game. Don't bring 7.62 to a 30mm fight, I would say.

About 2:20 the pilot says we are way out of range (for the AK fire). Anyone know the engagement range of this vid?

I have never been a believer in maximum effective range and maximum range. If you look at the Apache flir vids most of the time they show anywhere from 1500 meters to 1650. Pretty much a mile away which is they're "affective range" But Actually theyre max range is 4500 meters. This Is the 30mm of course, The AK has an effective range of 300-400meters I can't find the max range but basically the pilot Is assuming that that the bullets from the AK at that distance and the small signature of the Apache Is basically a long shot

I wonder why they selected 30mm and not just 1 Hellfire straight into the back of the truck - removing the weapons for all time?
Anyone got any ideas?

@Tow most likely because of runners, they probably blew the truck later. You can come back on target much faster with the gun and be more accurate with the 30 mm. The helfire is hell a accurate, but it takes time for the next shot and setting up the lazer, plus they where moving. In a situation like that, you done want to be in a hover or slow to fire the hell fire and rocket pods do alot of damage but there is a chance for them to get away

hi ... i was just see this older video and i see this comment ... and at 2:20 they are talking about try to fire an Hell fire i think (the pilot ask to the gunner if they can use a missile and the gunner say ..."we are out of range for that" i think ) ...so they just use de Big Gun (cannon). :)
