i think he was trying to hide it as you can see he tries to stuff it under the seat probably brought in for questioning that is why they didn't search him or put handcuffs on him.

Cops should be severely reprimanded.

If they were the original arresting officers they failed to do a proper search. If the perp was handed off to them they failed to do a proper search before accepting the prisoner.

Your prisoners are your responsibility. There is no excuse for this.

Had two fellow officers this happened to. Did not turn out the same though. He shot both in the haed. one had the bullet stuck in his head and after afew years and build up of scar tissue his head hurt so bad he told the doctor he was either going to take it out or he was going to kill himself...they took it out. The other actually spit the bullet out of his mouth at the scene.

Those cops are lucky, and LAZY! You do NOT place someone in your patrol vehicle without properly searching them first. Complacency at its finest. Thank God the guy didn't get to fire it.
