It is my understanding that it is a misconception that shaped HEAT rounds melt their way through armor. The kinetic energy of the copper jet literally forces the armor molecules apart.

Interesting video. I once saw a CV90 vehicle up close. It has tight rubber mats (about 20cm) thick on the front of the vehicle. What are these called?
