Its very strange. When I was a kid, I was eager to learn of my grandfathers and their brothers service in WW1 and 2. I was told they were all in reserved occupations. When records went online after they all were dead, it turns out they all served and served well. Some legends there and some sad stories, one relative was wounded 7 times and sent back to the front in WW1 7 times. He ended up with shell shock and was sent home after 3 years in the trenches.
So how did we go from a generation that was happy to forget about what they did and move on, to a generation that wishes they were there but didnt have the guts to go. What has changed?
