In a surprising turn of events, Navistar has withdrawn the protest it filed with the Government Accountability Office on Aug. 31 over the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle program.

Company spokeswoman Elissa Koc said Tuesday in an email that “Navistar did file a protest with the GAO Friday. Following our debrief with the government, the company had concerns regarding the selection process and we had limited time to submit our filing. Today, Navistar decided to withdraw its protest.”

When the company filed the protest, it appeared that the $14 billion U.S. Army / Marine Corps program had been put on hold. But now it looks like the 27-month engineering, manufacturing, and development portion of the program is back on track, with teams being led by Lockheed Martin, Oshkosh, and AM General free to continue work on their designs. The bidders will have 14 months to deliver 22 prototype vehicles to the government for evaluation.

I'm hoping that this program is full of all the normal BS, and that a piece of decent equipment is actually fielded. The more manufacturers the better, actually creates copetitiion and they have to actually try and build something that will work, and work properly.

They better atleast, with the huvhees production done, aside from replacement parts, we will be needing something very soon.
