Just reading a little about the Strela and Igla MANPADS, quite a bit of these things floating around in the world. Even our Stinger is quite prolific (just putting a few on the market will generate copies from places like Egypt/China/Iran/etc). The USSR, US, and even Russia have been known to sell these quite a bit, mostly to people like Gaddafi, then they end up in these 'rebels' hands... Just like the violence in Syria, eventually the government is going to collapse and all the weapons they have hidden away (chemical) will be available to... Well, I think we all know... God willing, right? I love how our politicians are so keen on their support, short sighted goals, lead to long term problems. Organizations like the Taliban and al-Qaeda make a little 'Soviet-like oppression' seem like a grand idea.

Syria has a large stockpile of the SA-7's for sure and from what I've read, it's thought that they have a number of the SA-18's too. It is also thought that the stockpile of SA-7's are quie old, much older than the effective service life of missle system itself. Still a threat though.

Peace man.....oooops I mean durka durka lol, the guy flipping the peace sign changed his tune real quick when he saw the other dude flipping the "rebel" finger. He is probably dead now for flashing an infidel gesture.

Yeah I mentioned a day ago that they've been using Igla's for the last month now. Whenever news breaks out, it is usually pretty late ;D

LOL they seem sign confused
I must say these guys running around with SAM is a worry.
In battle it is OK but how long before a fringe group uses it against a comercial plane?
