On August 6, 2011, 30 US service members were killed when a CH-47 Chinook helicopter they were being transported in crashed in Wardak province, Afghanistan. He is Commander-in-Chief, but I'm sure hes far to busy to sit down and write 30 personalized letters.
hell i doubt former presidents wrote their own letters (most of their books have ghost writers!)

the "No Easy Day" author says that after the raid Obama told them he would invite them over for a beer, but apparently he never did.

yeah I am not debating that Bush did it or not. I think with what had taken place recently with bin laden being killed they expected more respect from good ol obaaaama. He just claimed victory on al qaeda and his show and dance to the world yet he didnt have the time to personally write to these families. He has had time to play golf and fundraise like a motherfucker.

Rumsfeld to personally sign all condolence letters

WASHINGTON — Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld will begin personally signing condolence letters sent to families of troops killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, after receiving criticism over his use of mechanical signatures.

In a statement provided to Stars and Stripes on Thursday, Rumsfeld tacitly admitted that in the past he has not personally signed the letters, but said he was responsible for writing and approving each of the 1,000-plus messages sent to the fallen soldiers’ families.

Last November Barack Obama sent a personal letter of condolence when rapper Heavy D passed away at 44. ...
