Hey, I was reading something in an online article about the Tunguska blast of 1908. For those of you who don't know, go here: http://www.cruelbreed.com/forums/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=47

Essentially, a non-nuclear approx. 15 megaton blast came out of nowhere in a Russian forest. At the same time, Tesla was aiming and testing his "peace ray" at the arctic circle.
Here is info on the "peace ray:" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikola_tesla

My question is, do you really think that such a thing is possible and if so, is it something we should look into as a weapon? Using the forces of the earth to seamlessly strike targets with the force of a nuke from halfway across the globe seems pretty viable to me. Is this something, and are things like it, technologies we should pursue?

Hey thanks for sharing this. I don't believe the first link is working properly though, maybe you can post the article on cruelbreeds main site http://www.cruelbreed.com then just link it in here.

I've actually never heard of this so i'm so glad I came across your thread. Here's another article I found on google. http://www.tfcbooks.com/teslafaq/q&a_011.htm

"
According to Tesla production of the particle beam is dependent upon the following four inventions:

1) A method and apparatus for producing rays and other manifestations of energy in free air, eliminating the high vacuum necessary at present for the production of such rays and beams. This is accomplished with a novel form of high vacuum tube, one end of which is open to the atmosphere. The projectiles are accelerated in a vacuum and then conducted into the atmosphere through a valvular conduit.

2) A method and process for producing very great electrical force in the range of 60,000,000 volts to propel the particles to their objective. Tesla specified that this could be done with a large electrostatic generator on a new principle and of very great power, in many respects similar to a Van de Graaff generator. In place of a charge-carrying belt it employs a circulating stream of desiccated air that is propelled through a hermetically sealed ductwork by a Tesla disc blower. A Wardenclyffe type apparatus could also be used for this purpose.

3) A method for amplifying this process in the second invention. The exterior of the high potential terminal is equipped with numerous bulbs of some insulating material each containing, “an electrode of thin metal sheet suitably rounded” and “exhausted to the highest vacuum obtainable.”

4) A new method for producing a tremendous electrical repelling force in the form of “provisions for imparting to a minute particle an extremely high charge.” It appears this refers to the internal conducting component (the socket and central extension) at the base of the projector or gun element of the system While the specific details about this aspect of the design are not readily apparent, it seems that strict attention to the fulfillment of requirements 1, 2 and 3 is critical to success. In Tesla’s words, “by the application of my discoveries it is possible to increase the force of repulsion more than a million times and what was heretofore impossible is rendered easy of accomplishment.”[1, 2] "

This is insane, tesla was actually trying to produce a forcefield to guard nations from aerial attack.

"The beam, as described by the inventor to rather bewildered reporters, would be projected on land from power houses set 200 miles or so apart and would provide an impenetrable wall for a country in time of war."

I'm far from an expert in any of these fields but I do think it is possible. As a weapon I truly believe we should look into this. Why? Well my answer derives exactly from something you wrote, "using the forces of the earth to seamlessly strike targets with the force of a nuke from halfway across the globe." To make this work this device would have to be kept secret, it would be the ultimate tool. Strike an opposing enemy, and NOBODY COULD PIN POINT an attack. What if man could produce earth quakes, typhoons or hurricanes and pin point them as attacks to enemy nations. The greatest point of the peace ray is it could prove to have pin point accuracy, unlike an earthquake or hurricane which may be very inmoral to use. Think of all the suffering a natural disaster would incur on the ordinary people of a nation.

I envision the thought of the tesla peace ray as more of a lightning bolt coming from the sky and destroying a target with pin point accuracy. This is far from being a reality but think of the wonders this would do for special operation missions, destroy a silo from your home country with a bolt of lightning?! Such a technology would not only bring great use on the battlefield but could possibly save millions of U.S. lives in the future. What if with such research we were able to prevent the likes of Hurricane Katrina from ever reaching our coast? This is such a fascinating topic, thanks again for bringing it up.

Dude think about this for a second, it's genious. What if we could throw up a forcefield around our entire nation incase of a nuclear strike?! Even better, if we could prevent a nuclear strike and somehow deal with nuclear fallout. If somehow the forcefield could completely disable the electronics necessary for a ballistic missile to explode, and render it a dud on impact there would BE NO NUCLEAR FALLOUT.

HELL FREAKING YES, we should research this.

damn, I was hoping we'd get some responses already..
