To me it looks like there's a heavy bit of kit behind him, not sure what it is? mortar tube or something? It looks like that fires and the back blast kicks up all the dust? May be wrong and they just got nailed by incoming, not sure....

You are right of course, I think its an anti tank cannot of some sort nearly looks like a recoiless rifle

yes thats why nobody is really bothered and the shooting continues, a direct hit by a mortar and you would have heard some screaming.
The guy with the white baseball cap on backwards kneeling down has an RPG and he's sticking it through a hole in the wall looking for a target. When the reporter turns around the guy fires and tears his ass up with the backblast. This is why we're trained to yell "BACKBLAST AREA CLEAR!" before firing portable rockets. Some of them have so much backblast pressure that if you try to shoot them indoors it'll blow your ass out or kill you.
