4 British Royal Marine Commandos clung to the outside of 2 Apaches as they flew back into a firefight to retrieve the body of fallen Lance Corporal Mathew Ford, RM Commando. No way were the Taliban going to have his body.

I am a loss for words. What honor and bravery. No soldier left behind, especially to those pigs. My condolences and may he rest in peace- Lance Corporal Mathew Ford.

Read "Apache" by Ed Macy. He was one of the two Apache Pilots that touched down in the middle of a firefight with two British Marines strapped onto the wings of the Apaches. The scary thing is, one of the Marines didn't have a clip and had to literally hold on for his life.
I believe they were on the ground for about 10 minutes. Macy and the Pilot of the second Apache both exited their Apaches while the gunners kept the birds running to help save (at that time they thought he was alive) Ford. Macy is the only airman to receive the award for outstanding performance in ground combat (since he was actually boots on the ground performing the rescue).
Great Book. I'm reading his other book (Hellfire) right now... not as good as the first one but still pretty good.
