War is a natural action taken by man, when there is a disagreement over ideology, political differences, religion, or just the two guys butting heads they will always fight. There will always be uprisings, revolutions, conflicts between nations, terrorist groups, or just plain old genocide. The main culpret in all of these instances is small arms, really people have nothing to do with conflict it is simply the tools that they use to perform the actions they want to take. That is why the glorious, all knowing, most useful organization in human history has taken the appropriate measures to limit simple people, (who are not in charge of a government or their way of life, ie Syria, Libya, China, Europe (in general), and a few other countries have limited the amount, and types of arms their citizens can own) the right of personal secutiry and choice of how they want to live.

While this treaty will not limit US citizen ownership or impose restrictions against US citizens, it is still a very ill concieved vote for the UN to even try to pass. If this had been in place for the past 20 years the events we have seen, of people rising up against tyranical dictatorships across the world, would not have happened. While we will not know for some time how the current revolutions will turn out, it is good to see normal people stand up and fight for what they want and believe in (simply as the United States forefathers did). Here are a few articles, from a few sides:

They tried this same treaty back when Clinton was in office and it never made it. Our Senate has to ratify any treaty and they will never ratify this one. As Brenden said it is very ill concieved. If I remember correctly it even wants Law Enforcement personel to leave their sidearms at work and not be allowed to carry off duty. Yea I don't think so!!!!

I enjoyed John Lott's opinion piece on the topic: http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2012/07/18/un-gun-control-treaty-will-reveal-gun-laws-obama-really-supports/

In my opinion, the NRA's Wayne LaPierre said it best...

Americans "just don’t want the UN to be acting as a global nanny with a global permission slip stating whether they can own a gun or not. It cheapens our rights as American citizens, and weakens our sovereignty,"

In short and to put it more bluntly, here ya' go UN and here ya' go to those who bend over for them...
