KABUL, Afghanistan (Oct. 22, 2011) — An Afghan National Security Force and International Security Assistance Force patrol killed several insurgents and detained one other insurgent during an operation to disrupt an insurgent network in Kajaki district, Helmand province, Friday.
The operation seized 441 pounds (200 kilograms) of opium, a quantity of narcotics processing equipment and 66 pounds (30 kgs) of improvised explosive device charges. The narcotics and weapons were safely destroyed on site.
The insurgent was detained and taken in for processing and further questioning.

During a combined operation conducted today by Afghan and coalition forces in Kandahar district, Kandahar province, two 122 mm rockets and four mortar rounds were discovered and seized by security forces. All the weapons were safely destroyed by security forces.
East
In Deh Yak district, Ghazni province today, a combined Afghan and coalition patrol discovered and seized an ammunition cache consisting of 2,400 7.62 mm rounds. All the items were recovered by the security force for safe destruction at a later date.
