For Immediate Release
KABUL, Afghanistan (Oct. 20, 2011) — A combined Afghan and coalition security force detained an insurgent leader in Khoshi district, Logar province in an operation that was ongoing throughout the week.
The leader is a known insurgent commander and facilitator responsible for attacks against Afghan and coalition forces.
The insurgent was taken for processing and further questioning.

In Kandahar district, Kandahar province, a combined Afghan and coalition patrol discovered a damaged coalition vehicle and storage container in a civilian compound, yesterday. Upon further investigation, the security force discovered a weapons cache as well. The cache consisted of three AK-47s, one shotgun, one handgrenade, 15 AK-47 magazines, and 450 7.62 mm rounds.The weapons were seized by the security force for safe destruction at a later date.

In Qalandar district, Khost province, a combined Afghan and coalition security force patrol discovered a weapons cache, today. The cache consisted of eight 82 mm recoilless rifle rounds, nine rocket propelled grenades, three landmines, and 250 12.7 mm rounds. The weapons were safely destroyed by the security force at the scene. There were no civilian casualties or damages.
