KABUL, Afghanistan (Sept. 25, 2011) – A combined Afghan and coalition patrol killed one insurgent, detained a suspected insurgent, and seized a narcotics cache during an operation in Kajran district, Daykundi province, Saturday.
The operation seized 5,290 pounds (2,400 kilograms) of hashish, which was safely destroyed on site, and the suspected insurgent was detained for further questioning.

In other International Security Assistance Force news throughout Afghanistan:
South
A combined Afghan National Security Force and ISAF patrol killed several insurgents, detained numerous other insurgents, and seized a narcotics cache during an operation in Kajaki district, Helmand province, yesterday.
The operation seized 1,980 pounds (900 kilograms) of opium and a quantity of small arms and ammunition. The drugs and weapons were safely destroyed on site.
Additionally, the suspected insurgents found at the scene were detained for processing and further questioning.
Also in Helmand province, a combined Afghan and coalition force killed several insurgents and seized a weapons cache during an operation in Nahr-e Saraj district, yesterday

The operation seized one 66-pound (30-kilogram) improvised explosive device, one mortar, two 122 mm rockets, four grenades, 11 pounds (five kilograms) of homemade explosives, 14 IED pressure plates, and a quantity of small arms and ammunition. The weapons were safely destroyed on site.
East
A combined Afghan and coalition patrol detained numerous suspected insurgents during an operation in Ghazni district, Ghazni province, yesterday.
The suspected insurgents are believe to be tied directly with an insurgent leader responsible for suicide and IED attacks against ANSF and coalition forces throughout Ghazni.
