KABUL, Afghanistan (July 28, 2011) – A coalition patrol discovered a weapons cache in Panjwa’i district, Kandahar province, today.
The cache consisted of four AK-47 rifles, nine AK-47 magazines, 320 7.62mm rounds, one machine gun, nine mines, eight 81mm mortar rounds, 85 pounds (39 kilograms) of explosives and several improvised explosive device making materials. All the items were seized by the coalition forces.

A combined Afghan and coalition patrol discovered a weapons cache during a five-day operation in the Kandahar and Helmand provinces. The operation secured two sniper rifles, ammunition and 220 pounds (100 kgs) of explosive components. The cache was safely destroyed on site. In Spin Boldag district, Kandahar province, today, a combined Afghan and coalition force discovered and seized a drug cache consisting of 452 pounds (205 kgs) of hashish. The drugs were seized by the patrol and will be destroyed at a later date.
