KABUL, Afghanistan (July 18, 2011) – A combined Afghan and coalition force discovered a large drug cache while on patrol in Delaram district, Nimroz province, today. The cache consisted of 22,500 pounds (10,205 kgs) of poppy seeds. All drugs were safely destroyed on site by security forces.

In other International Security Assistance Force news throughout Afghanistan:

South

In Arghandab district, Kandahar province, today, a combined Afghan and coalition patrol discovered and seized a weapons cache consisting of six 82 mm mortar rounds. All munitions were safely destroyed by security forces.

East

In Deh Yak district, Ghazni province, a coalition force patrol discovered a weapons cache, today. The cache consisted of two landmines, one 30mm mortar round, 11 rocket fuses, four grenades and one machine gun barrel. All items were seized and destroyed by the patrol.

West

In Shindand district, Herat province, today, a coalition patrol discovered a weapons cache consisting of 12 40mm grenades and 80 fuses. The patrol seized and destroyed the munitions.
