KABUL, Afghanistan (July 7, 2011) – In Sangin district, Helmand province today, an International Security Assistance Force patrol observed several insurgents emplacing improvised explosive devices. The patrol engaged the insurgents, resulting in one insurgent killed.

Also in Sangin district, Helmand province today, a partnered Afghan and International Security Assistance Force patrol discovered a weapons cache.
The weapons cache, discovered during a security operation, consisted of: one mortar, one 81 mm mortar round, 7.62 mm ammunition, one radio and a large quantity of improvised explosive device making materials.
In Washer district, Helmand province today, a coalition patrol discovered and seized a weapons cache consisting of ten rocket propelled grenade rounds and 7.62 mm ammunition.
During the operation, one suspected insurgent was detained by the coalition patrol.
A coalition force discovered a weapons cache in Lashkar Gah district, Helmand province today.
The cache consisted of 1,653 pounds (750 kilograms) of homemade explosives and several meters of detonation cord.
All weapons and munitions were destroyed by the security forces.
