KABUL, Afghanistan (May 11, 2011) – Afghan National Security and International Security Assistance Forces arrested several suspected members of an improvised explosive device attack network in Maidan Shar district, Kabul province, Monday.
Several men were arrested by Afghan forces on a Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan warrant for allegedly planning a vehicle-IED attack on an ANSF commander in Kabul. One of the men arrested is also suspected of facilitating the movement of explosives and IED components throughout Kabul. The men were arrested without incident and taken by Afghan authorities for processing and further questioning.

In Ghorak district, Kandahar province, yesterday, Afghan and coalition forces detained one insurgent and discovered a weapons cache consisting of 3,307 pounds (1,500 kilograms) of ammonium chloride. The explosive material was destroyed by security forces.
