KABUL, Afghanistan (March 19, 2011) – Afghan National Security and International Security Assistance Forces killed two insurgents during a routine clearing operation in Shahid-e Hasas district, Uruzgan province yesterday.
The combined forces conducted a clearing operation on a known insurgent area in the Khod valley resulting in two insurgents killed. The combined forces recovered two weapons, five improvised electrical detonators and an unknown amount of ammunition.
There were no civilians casualties reported in this operation.

South
Afghan and coalition forces conducting a combined patrol in Zharay district, Kandahar province today, discovered a drugs cache consisting of 200 pounds (91 kilograms) of hashish.
In Panjwa’i district, Kandahar province, a combined Afghan and coalition forces patrol discovered a weapons cache today. The cache consisted of 50 12.7 mm rounds, 2200 7.62 mm rounds, 50 pounds (23 kilograms) of shrapnel, 8.5 ounces (250 milliliters) of black powder, 18 anti-personnel mines and several improvised explosive device making components.
Coalition forces conducting a dismounted patrol in Kajaki district, Helmand province killed several insurgents today. The patrol was attacked with small arms and machine gun fire. The coalition forces patrol returned fire after positively identifying the insurgents, killing them.
No civilian casualties or collateral damages were reported for this operation.
East
Afghan and coalition forces conducting a combined detention operation in Baraki Barak district, Logar province, detained one insurgent and discovered a weapons cache today. The weapons cache consisted of one rocket propelled grenade launcher, eight rocket propelled grenades, nine rocket propelled grenade boosters, three Afghan National Police uniforms, one AK-47 rifle, four AK-47 full magazines, one land mine, five hand grenades and several improvised explosive device making components.
All weapons, IED-making components have been or will be destroyed.
