Two soldiers with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) were killed Saturday
in a shooting incident in Afghanistan's restive southern region, the military alliance said in a statement.

"Two International Security Assistance Force service members died in southern Afghanistan today
following a shooting incident with a security guard,"said the statement released here by ISAF.

The incident is currently under investigation, the brief statement added.

However, it did not reveal the nationalities of the victims, saying that it is ISAF policy to defer
casualty identification procedures to the relevant national authorities.

Troops mainly from the United States, Britain, Canada and Australia have been stationed
in the southern region within the framework of ISAF to fight Taliban militants.

Saturday's casualties bring the number of ISAF service members have been killed in militancy-hit Afghanistan to 90 since the beginning of this year.
