War in Afghanistan News reports provided by ISAF Joint Command. Operations are reported in the following provinces: Helmand, Kunar, Kapisa, Kabul, Zabul, Kandahar, Khost, 9863 Wardak and Ghazni.


Pure hashish was discovered in Zabul Province and marijuana in Kandahar Province.
In Laghman Province one child was killed, one wounded by unexploded ordinance that detonated.
One, two, three, four....make that five insurgents were killed in various provinces yesterday....but who's counting!
With the capture of the Taliban facilitator yesterday, Afghan and coalition forces have detained more than 25 Taliban and Haqqani Network leaders and facilitators along with more than 35 suspected insurgents who operated in Regional Command East since the beginning of February.
Multiple finds of fertilizer and bomb components were found in Helmand Province.

Helmand Province
In Kajaki district, Helmand province, an ISAF patrol was engaged by insurgents with small-arms fire. After gaining positive identification, coalition forces engaged the enemy position, killing one insurgent and wounding another.

In Nad ‘Ali district, Helmand province, an Afghan National Security Forces and ISAF patrol discovered an improvised explosive devices cache while conducting a clearing operation today. The cache consisted of four cell phones, black wiring, multiple large bags of urea fertilizer and IED-making and components.

During a separate operation, an ISAF patrol operating in Sangin district found another IED-making components and chemicals cache consisting of eight bags of ammonium nitrate, five pressure plates, two radios, detonation cord, one 155 mm artillery shell, 150 7.62 mm rounds, 1.5 pounds (.6 kilograms) of opium and other electronic parts.
Kunar Province
Afghan National Security Forces declared an imminent threat when several insurgents were displaying hostile acts in Darah-ye Pech district, Kunar province. After gaining positive identification, coalition forces engaged the enemy position, killing three insurgents.

In Tsowkey district, Kunar province, an ISAF patrol received small arms fire from an unknown number of insurgents. After establishing positive identification, coalition forces engaged, killing one insurgent.
Laghman Province
One Afghan child was killed and another wounded while playing, when an unexploded ordinance detonated in Laghman province.
Kapisa Province
A combined patrol in Tagab district, Kapisa province found a weapons cache consisting of 20 anti-personnel mines, four rocket-propelled grenades, one unknown rocket and one electronic detonator.

Kabul Province
In Musahi district, Kabul province, Afghan National Security Forces found a weapons cache consisting of 10 grenades.
Zabul Province
Several insurgents were detained during an Afghan National Army and ISAF operation in Tarnek wa Jaldak district, Zabul province. Coalition forces also discovered one gas tank, two bags of cannabis seeds and .6 pounds (300 grams) of pure hashish.
Kandahar Province
While conducting a counter narcotics operation in Zharey district, Kandahar province, International Security Assistance Force discovered 7,500 pounds (3,409 kilograms) of marijuana in Nalgham and Siah Choy villages.

An ISAF patrol operating in Arghandab district, Kandahar province found a weapons cache buried in a bucket. Items in the bucket included explosives, 11 blasting caps, four grenades, one anti-personnel mine and other assorted supplies.
Also.....
In Arghandab district, during a clearing operation, an Afghan national Police and ISAF patrol found two AK-47s, two full AK-47 magazines, one roll of detonation cord, two chest racks, one 120 mm mortar round, four rocket propelled grenade warheads and one mortar warhead.

Afghan and coalition forces detained a Taliban attack leader, along with several suspected insurgents during an operation in Kandahar City, Kandahar province yesterday.

The detained militant was a Kandahar City-based Taliban leader who had recently been in Nad ‘Ali district, Helmand province; Spin Bolak district, Kandahar province; and Chaman, Pakistan. He also was coordinating attacks in Kabul City against Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan officials and coalition forces.

Intelligence reports led the security force to the targeted compound in the city, where Afghan forces called for all occupants to exit the buildings peacefully before conducting a search. The Taliban leader, along with the suspected insurgents, was detained for involvement in insurgent activity after initial questioning at the scene.

In Arghandab district, Kandahar province, an Afghan National Police patrol found one jug of homemade explosives and one 155 mm round.

Khost Province
Afghan and coalition forces detained a Haqqani Network facilitator along with one suspected insurgent during an operation in Jaji Maidan district, Khost province yesterday.

The facilitator operated in Sabari and Khost districts where he was responsible for supplying, moving and distributing Haqqani Network insurgents in the area who conduct improvised explosive device attacks against Afghan and coalition forces. Intelligence reports led the security force to the targeted compound in Jaji Maidan district, where Afghan forces called for all occupants to exit out of the buildings peacefully before conducting a search. The Haqqani Network facilitator and one suspected insurgent was detained based on initial questioning at the scene.
Wardak Province
Afghan and coalition forces targeted a Taliban leader detaining one suspected insurgent during a security operation in Sayyidabad district, Wardak province yesterday.

The leader is responsible for kidnappings, weapons facilitation and attacks against Afghan and coalition forces. He has been active in purchasing weapons and explosives for improvised explosive devices according to recent reporting. Security forces followed leads to a targeted location in the district, where Afghan forces called for all occupants to exit out of the buildings peacefully before conducting a search. One suspected insurgent was detained based on initial questioning at the scene.


Ghazni Province
Afghan and coalition forces detained a Taliban facilitator along with one suspected insurgent during an operation in Ghazni district

The facilitator was responsible for selling weapons to other Taliban insurgents in the area. He was associated with other arms dealers and Taliban in the local area. He purchased ammunition and grenades from an associate for attacks against Afghan and coalition forces, according to recent reporting.

Intelligence reports led the security force to the targeted compound in the district, where Afghan forces called for all occupants to exit out of the buildings peacefully before conducting a search. The facilitator identified himself to the security force as the targeted insurgent and was detained. One additional suspected insurgent was detained based on initial questioning at the scene.
