War in Afghanistan News reports provided by ISAF Joint Command. Operations are reported 9758
in the following provinces: Kandahar, Kunar, Helmand and Nimroz. There was no hiding in Kandahar.....
Air support was on target in Helmand.....
Accurate mortar fire in Kunar.....
Taliban Attack Facilitator killed in Nimroz.....




In Helmand, Kandahar and Uruzgan provinces, Afghan Security forces and ISAF patrols found three weapons, improvised explosive device-making components and chemicals caches in Marjah, Arghandab and Tarin Kot districts. The caches consisted of three AK-47s, one RPG, one 82 mm round, one 20 mm recoilless rifle round, one anti-personnel mine, two hand grenades. The IED-making components and chemicals consisted of 20 jugs of ammonium nitrate and explosives.

Kandahar Province
An ISAF patrol spotted two armed insurgents moving towards a historical fighting location in Zharay district, Kandahar province. After establishing positive identification, coalition forces engaged and killed the insurgents.

Kunar Province
An ISAF patrol came under fire from several insurgents in Nurgal district. Coalition forces gained positive identification and returned accurate mortar fire on the enemy position, killing the insurgents and dispersing the others.

Helmand Province
During separate operations, two ISAF patrols were engaged by insurgents with small arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades in Musa Qal’ah district. After gaining positive identification, coalition forces returned fire and called for air support. The air weapons team supporting ground forces engaged the enemy position, killing several insurgents.


Also.....
A joint Afghan National Security and International Security Assistance Force patrol targeted a Taliban suicide bomb facilitator in Lashkar Gah district, Helmand province, yesterday.

Several insurgents were killed and weapons were found during the operation.

The target has been involved in a number of attacks in the Lashkar Gah area.

Acting on multiple intelligence reports and tips from local citizens, the patrol moved towards a compound associated with the target. As they approached the compound, the Afghan forces initiated a call-out to give the occupants a chance to exit the building safely. When no one responded, the force moved to search and clear the compound. As they entered, they were threatened by several insurgents who were killed with precision shots.

The patrol moved to another part of the compound and were threatened by several more men. They were also engaged with precise shots and killed.

During a search of the area the patrol found three AK-47's and associated ammunition.

Several men were detained during the operation and taken by Afghan authorities for processing and further questioning.


Nimroz Province
Afghan and coalition forces killed Abdul Wahab, a Taliban attack facilitator, along with another armed insurgent and detained several suspected insurgents during a security operation yesterday in Nimroz province.

Abdul Wahab was responsible for the movement of munitions and improvised explosive device materials within northern Nimroz for attacks against coalition forces. He also facilitated the movement of materials to Taliban associates within Kandahar.

Intelligence reports led the security force to the targeted compound in Khash Rod district. As the security force arrived, armed insurgents were observed leaving the compound. The security force conducted a search and secured the compound.

After securing the compound, the security force attempted to interdict the evading armed insurgents. As the security force approached the armed insurgents they were threatened. The security force returned fire, resulting in Abdul Wahab and one armed insurgent being killed.

Several suspected insurgents were detained after initial questioning at the scene. The security force recovered multiple AK-47's, chest racks, ammunition and 400 pounds (181 kilograms) of IED-making material.
