ADVS began discussion with the KMOI in 2007 to design a security vehicle able to meet their specific mobility, survivability, and performance requirements. ADVS designed, manufactured, tested, and completed the vehicles for delivery by fall 2010, a less-than three year full development to production timeline duration.

James LeBlanc Sr., founder and CEO of ADVS, stated "the engineering, design and workmanship of these ten-person vehicles will provide the capability desired by the Kuwaiti government to effectively complete missions in challenging environments on desert sand and extreme temperature conditions and to safely maneuver in heavily populated areas."

Under this program, SupplyCore, a leader in supply chain management and distribution of tactical vehicle spare parts, assisted in the procurement and supply chain management of production and aftermarket parts for the ADVS 6X6X6 Desert Chameleon. In addition, True North Logistics, a Michigan based logistics firm, assisted with the distribution and management of vehicle parts during vehicle production.

ADVS specializes in designing, engineering and manufacturing defense vehicles for current and future requirements of the military, homeland defense, and national security markets. ADVS and their principles have been working with the U.S. and international governments for over 40 years in the development of security and tactical vehicles. ADVS also provides program management, field service, logistics, training, manual support, and spare parts for tactical vehicles. ADVS' innovative vehicle product features plus extensive experience contributes highly to mission efficiency and increased survivability.

SupplyCore helps the armed services and the DLA improve their supply chain performance and eliminate waste while providing superior service to the warfighter. SupplyCore has spent over twenty years streamlining and improving its technological processes and its supply chain, which translates into more efficient purchasing for the federal government.

Technical data

Armament
The version of Desert Chameleon 6x6x6 delivered to the Kuwait Ministry of Interior is equipped with the Remote Multipurpose Turret Systems (RMTSs) from ADVS (UK). The RMTS was developed by ADVS (UK) as a private venture at its Sheffield facility for installation on new-build and existing armoured vehicle platforms, while the Desert Chameleon vehicles were built at the US facilities of ADVS. The baseline RMTS is of all-welded steel armour protecting against 7.62 mm armour-piercing attack in its basic form through a full 360 degrees, but the systems supplied for the Desert Chameleon are protected against 14.5 mm armour-piercing attack. The turret is mounted on the top of the crew compartment, front of the vehicle. A range of four smoke grenades discharger is fitted to each sides of the turret.

Protection
The ADVS 6x6x6 Desert Chameleon vehicle specs include a removable “V” hull design with adaptable armor modules to increase blast dispersion and survivability. No information is available concerning the armor of the Desert Chameleon, but we can suppose that the level protection of the hull is the same as for the turret. The Desert Chameleon can be also upgraded with add-on armor.

Propulsion
The Desert Chameleon is fitted with an 6x6x6 independent active-suspension and a speed sensitive all-wheel steering system. The Desert Chameleon is motorized with a 600-horsepower Caterpillar engine power-pack coupled to an Automatic 6-Speed, Caterpillar Transmission. The binnacle has a slide adjustment for changing between right and left hand steering at any speed.

Accessories
Each side of the hull is equipped with one small door, on hydraulic ramp is mounted at the rear. The cockpit has 4 panoramic periscopes, two at the front and one to each side. Two gun ports are mounted at the rear side of each side of the hull, with one panoramic periscope on the top of the hull.

Got any videos of this hot rod? I'd be interested in seeing it move about in the sand, I know we were able to get our MAXPRO's stuck pretty damn easily. Was wondering how this would handle in the sand.
