Stupid people will be stupid people. If the government wanted to force something on everybody they'd do it -- except with alot less 45-year old soccer moms and more brute force. The magazine has nothing to do with government expansion, it has something to do with businesses baiting morons for their money.

People voted for Obama because he was popular. The sheep were herded in and he won. He was turned into a celebrity. Basically, this is the same thing as selling regular hair products that have a label saying "Justin Bieber's own hair spray!" to 12 year old girls.
