KABUL, Afghanistan (Dec. 22) – Seven Afghan children were seriously wounded
by an improvised explosive device blast in Garm Ser district, Helmand province Dec. 21.

International Security Assistance Force responded to the scene
and evacuated the wounded to an ISAF medical treatment facility.

Coalition forces also disposed of a secondary IED found near the site, after gaining approval from local village elders.

“The kids in this country are innocent witnesses to insurgent acts of terror and it’s a
tragedy they are continuously on the wrong end of these indiscriminate attacks,” said U.S. Army Lt. Col. Patrick Hynes,
ISAF Joint Command’s Combined Joint Operations Center director. “Our thoughts and concerns are with the victim’s families.
We’ll work with our Afghan partners to find those responsible for this attack and bring them to justice.”
